Rifra Nastri is the kind of mill that owns a category. Over thirty years producing elastic and rigid ribbons for footwear, clothing, leather goods and industry — and footwear is the sector where they made their name. Their own words for it: a successful combination of quality and creativity, with a highly customised service for each client.
It's still a family company, and the core values they publish read like one — family, employees, clients, the environment, quality, courtesy, fashion products, helpfulness, a youthful spirit, and Made in Italy. The mission is plainer still: delight the customer every time with the highest quality, and keep raising the service standard.
A large and diversified number of looms is what lets one mill cover this much ground — different workings, materials, sizes, colours and customisations, with a real sensitivity to the fashion factor.
Each weave has a job.
Rifra run woven, knitted, braided and crochet looms side by side. The construction is chosen from the stress profile of the application — not from what's on the shelf.
Tight weave, controlled stretch curve, dimensionally stable, clean selvedge. The classic Chelsea-boot side elastic and the visible instep band.
Softer hand, higher stretch, better drape. Soft footwear elastics, sock-fit collars and the lining elastics that finish a clean upper.
Round profile, high tension, narrow widths. Drawcords, ankle straps, lacing systems and technical articulations.
The decorative end — logo jacquard, tartan and stripe repeats, crochet edges, velvet finishes. The elastic as part of the shoe's visual story.
Rifra weave rigid tape as well as elastic — binding, pull loops, heel tabs, branded webbing and the non-stretch trims that sit alongside the elastic on the same shoe.
Stretch and rigid tapes engineered for protection: flameproof, waterproof, antistatic and strong grip. Tested in-house and through specialised laboratories.

Edge and recovery
Clean woven selvedge — no fraying, no curling — and a stretch curve that holds across cycle counts where cheaper elastics sag. It matters most where the elastic is visible.
Colour-fast dyeing
Pantone-matched and tested. Won't transfer onto the leather or the lining over the life of the shoe.
Deep warehouse
Rifra hold stock on the running articles, which is how large orders get processed quickly. Distributed worldwide through depots, exclusive distributors and agents — Instyle is that channel for India.
A line built for safety footwear.
On a safety boot every component has to conform to the standard the boot is certified to — the elastic included. A standard elastic on a certified boot is a compliance failure.
Rifra Tech is a range of stretch and rigid tapes developed specifically for protection applications: flameproof, waterproof, antistatic and strong grip. Products are certified and guaranteed by testing carried out in-house and through specialised external laboratories.
FireproofFlame & heat
Stretch tapes made from special fibres that resist very high temperatures, for flameproof footwear. Tape T 4710 is certified to UNE-EN ISO 11612:2010 — protective clothing against heat and flame.
WaterproofWet conditions
Water-repellent tapes for boots and safety footwear working wet. The band keeps its function and its appearance after repeated exposure.
AntistaticCharge dissipation
Tapes that dissipate electrostatic charge, for footwear used where a spark is not an option. Built into the construction rather than applied as a surface coating.
Strong gripHolds position
High-friction tapes with grip engineered into the weave, for applications where the band must hold its position under load without slipping.
